Flag:

This flag consitis of 3 thick bands horizontally on the flag. White is on the top, Blue is in the middle, and red is on the bottom. The russian flag was originally adapted from the flag of the Netherlands over 300 years ago. There are several theories about the origin of this flag but there is no offical meaning of the colors. One possible meaning is the Russian social system. In this, White represents God, Blue represents the Tsar, and Red represents the Peasants. This flag became the national flag of Russia in August of 1991.

What I Learned: What I learned while doing this project on Russia is that the food that they make in Russia contains the same types of food that we eat here in America. I personally thought that the foods there would be totally different and named different than what we have here in America. I also learned that Russia is the biggest country in the world..... sadly enough I never really new that. I learned that the capital of Russia is Moscow. Moscow Metro was the first railway system opened in Russia. It opened in 1935 and it is 187 miles long. As I researched different food types of Russia I was looking at the ingredients and as I read them they sounded very yummy!! I was surprised at how many recipes I would be willing to try making.

I was very surprised at how many different Presidents, Tsars, and changes in govenment that Russia has been through. Their government is very different from ours. It seems like they have had a lot of wars and sadness. I was very shocked to learn that there was a hostage situation in a school in which 135 childeren were killed. I also saw pictures of beautiful buildings, landscapes, and landmarks that made me wonder what life is like over in Russia. I also wonder how differently they live their lifestyle in Russia than we do here. Over all, it was very interesting to research Russia and was surprised to learn how tasty some of their food sounds to eat. If I didn't do research on Russia I probably wouldn't be really willing to try their food. Now I am willing to try out some Russian food!
