One of the most famuos landmarks of Peru is Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu (also referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas”) was built sometime around 1450 and is believed to have been originally created as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti. It is Peru’s most visited tourist attraction and is located nearly eight thousand feet above sea level on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley, about fifty miles northwest of Cusco.

What I learned:
I have learned alot of things about Peru during this project. I learned that the Peruvian money is called Nuevo Sol and that 100 Nuevo Sol's = 35.67 U.S dollars. I also learned a lot of intresting facts about Peru like that Peru declared independence from Spain on 28th July 1821. However, it gained recognition only on 9th December 1824. Also that mining of metals, petroleum, fishing, textiles, clothing and food processing form the major industries in Peru. Another, which is my favorite, Lake Titicaca, which Peru shares with Bolivia, holds the distinction of being the largest lake in South America, along with being the highest navigable lake in the world.
I also learned about many intresting foods like Arroz con Pollo which is Boiled chicken seasoned with a green sauce. Served always with green rice (rice cooked with albahaca). Arroz con Pollo means Rice with chicken and i knew that because i learned both those words in spanish class. Another intresting dish is Roast cuy, or guinea pig, which is considered a delicacy, and is traditionally served for very special occasions. I also learned a lot about one of Peru's most famous landmarks Machu Picchu (also referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas”) which was built sometime around 1450 and is believed to have been originally created as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti.
