Food:
1.Morcilla Rellena-blood sausage or blood pudding, this is a classic columbia dish usulllay served with barbeque or deep fries.
2.Quesillos-double cream cheese wrapped in banana leaves
3.Tamales-cooked corn dough filled with meat, chicken or vegetables wrapped in banana leaves.
4.Patacones-green plantains squashed into thick pancakes that are deep fried in vegetable oil until golden brown
5.chunchello-stuffed and fried poultry or cow intestines
6.Sobrebarriga Bogotana- is basically a flank steak Bogota Style
7.Arroz Con Coco- coconut rice pudding, it can be served as a sise dish or a desert. It is made with lemon zest and cinnamon
8.Natilla-Custard-like pudding of sweet maizena instead of eggs
9.Pstre de Nata-milk and condensed milk cooked with sugar, cinnamon and raisins
10.Mote de Queso con Hoga-based of chopped yam and cheese
What I Learned: From this project I have learned that Columbia is a country in South America. The flag is very plain, with only three stripes. Columbia went through alot to become independent from spain. 100 years after they claimed independence they had a civil war that last 1000 years. Now modern day they are fighting a drug and gang war, that is uncontrollable.
I never knew that columbia used pesos until i wrote up this project. Columbia has alot of amazing foods such as Mquesillos, Tamales, and Chunchello. Columbia was also the first permenint european settlement on the mainland. From this project i have learned many fasinateing thing, 1000years of history in one report. I have learned alot about Columbia and myself from the project, i know open my eyes to study new cultures and cuisines.
